Welcome to the Makarios Cluster's website!
The Makarios Cluster is a grouping of churches within the international family of Church of the Nations which relate apostolically to Tony and Marilyn Fitzgerald. In Church of the Nations we reason from a Hebrew mentality and thus build on the Hebrew model of "family, clan, tribe, and nation." Practically expressed, the "family" would be a local church, the "clan," a cluster or grouping of churches relating to an apostolic father or fathers, the "tribe," Church of the Nations International, and the "nation," the wider body of Christ. For more detailed information on our heart and values, please visit our Church of the Nations website at http://www.cotn.org.
The word "makarios" is the Greek word which is translated into English in the Beatitudes as "blessed" or "happy." However, it means far more than this. The Amplified Bible helps to shed some light on this in the first verses of Matthew 5. There are numerous descriptors used in these verses such as happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous-- with life-joy and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions, and many more which describe this state of being "blessed."
The island of Cyprus was at one time referred to as "Makarios." The Greeks believed that if you were fortunate enough to live on Cyprus, you would never need to leave it's shores for anything. Perhaps this is one of the best ways to describe this state of "makarios" that Jesus would have us live in and from to accomplish His mandate on the Earth today.
